Adam Lambert was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is the son of Leila, an interior designer, and Eber Lambert, a program manager for Novatel Wireless He has a younger brother, Neil.

Lambert's family moved to California shortly after his birth and he was raised in Rancho Peñasquitos in northeastern San Diego. He attended Deer Canyon Elementary School, Mesa Verde Middle School, where he was a winner in the Airband competition (featuring Michael Jackson's "Thriller"), and Mount Carmel High School (MCHS), where he was in theater, choir, and frequently performed vocals with the school's jazz band "MC Jazz" Some of his memorable MCHS performances included Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance and "It's Only a Paper Moon" with MC Jazz.

Lambert was raised in his mother's Jewish religion. He has performed in Hebrew at Jewish events, singing songs such as "Shir LaShalom" at a 2005 tribute concert to assassinated Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Lambert attended Temple of the Arts in San Diego and has performed at the Kol Nidre service on the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur. Lambert also performed in Jewish-themed The Ten Commandments: The Musical as Joshua, performing the song "Is Anybody Listening''. ♥

Il est né à Indianapolis, où il a vécu pendant un an, puis sa famille a déménagé à Los Angeles. À l'école, Adam Lambert a joué régulièrement dans des pièces de théâtre, concerts, et aussi avec un groupe de jazz. Il a été au lycée Carmel High School où il a interprété une chanson lors de sa remise de diplôme. On a pu le voir dans une comédie musicale nommée Ten Commandments : The Musical où il jouait le rôle d'un esclave égyptien. Il a également obtenu un petit rôle dans Wicked. Il a saisi sa chance de devenir chanteur et de faire reconnaitre sa grande voix et son talent scénique en passant l'audition d'American Idol (saison 8). Il s'est rendu jusqu'à la finale où il a dû s'avouer vaincu devant Kris Allen. Cependant, cette expérience lui a permis de chanter notamment avec le célèbre groupe KISS. De plus, il a été le plus populaire et s'est fait nommer grand vainqueur par une partie du public. Il a signé un contrat avec Sony Entairtainment. Il a fait par la suite son coming out en révélant son homosexualité mais aussi en avouant qu'il avait les cheveux roux au naturel et qu'il avait déjà pesé 110 kilos. Il a attribué ce poids à la difficulté d'accepter son orientation sexuelle.

Sa carrière a décollé et s'est élevé très haut. Il a été invité au AMA où il a interprété son tube For Your Entertainment. Cependant durant sa prestation, il a, sous l'effet de l'adrénaline, embrassé son bassiste. Il a été boudé par la chaine ABC qui a annulé, sur le coup, toutes les apparitions du jeune chanteur. Adam Lambert a refusé de s'excuser car il a affirmé que les femmes le faisaient depuis longtemps et que lorsqu'un homme le fait, cela devient un drame. Adam ne s'est pas laissé abattre car il a fait tout de même des apparitions télé et ses chansons ont toujours figuré dans le Top 5 du BillBoard

Adam a déclaré dans une interview pour le magazine français One, qu'il se considère maintenant comme bisexuel : « Et puis, en ce moment, je me considère comme bi. Je n'arrête pas d'avoir des coups de cœur pour des filles. »

Adam Lambert est nommé dans la catégorie Meilleure interprétation vocale masculine pop aux Grammy Awards 2011, en février. ♥

Adam Mitchel Lambert, born January 29, 1982 is an American singer, songwriter, and actor from San Diego, California. In May 2009, he finished as the runner-up on the eight season of American Idol The time identified Lambert as one of the few openly guay mainstream pop artists to launch a career on a major label in the USA.
Lambert released his debut album, For Your Entertainment, in November 2009, via RCA. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 in December 2009, selling 198,000 copies in the United States in the first week^. In 2010, Lambert has been nominated for the Grammy Award for best male pop performance for "Whataya Want from Me".
